NT1-A little hurts in the top end, if you heard only once the song or two sounds great but the top end makes you dont want to repeated because of that, so its doesnt works great as NEUMANN

I think the biggest takeaway is that between the two you'd be hard pressed to tell one from the other without directly being able to A/B them against each other.

Well, I'd take both of them buut..maybe for this song specificly if I were to chose, i'd go with B for the body and overall roundess

Very interesting, Listening through neumann KH120 monitors I was convinced the whole time that b was the nt1a, had more top end which I associate with that mic. Extremely close in sound!

It is irrelevant really, with all gear snobbery put aside. These days you need to try hard to find a bad gear that will hold you back in your creativity. It is the untalented that always complain about such things and always want something better. Sure, expensive gear can be beautiful to work with, but creativity and interpretation is what counts. When it comes to this comparison, I am really unable to hear the difference even I know the U87 very well, however she controls her sibilants so well and this alone hidden the main problem of the NT1-A. Thanks for the video.

I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference if it wasn't for the ear-piercing Ss of mic A, which I guess is solvable. B seems to have more lower mids too but it's not a night and day difference. She's a brutal singer as well, holy shit

Neumann is a legend. But nta-1 wasn't bad either However, the high and dental chords are so annoying.

What audiointerface was used ?

once again, a lesson that PERFORMANCE & ROOM > MIC. A shitty singer with a $2000 mic vs a great singer on a $200 rode.. who's going to sound better?

The RODE has nothing to envy... I really liked the appearance of Mic A for its warmth and particular brilliance... the other one had more body but in the case of that voice, I liked it since I heard the reference 1 and hit, have a RODE and for its quality price it is an excellent option...

good mics always sound smoothed out to me, like it doesn't need as much level adjusting. B immediately.

for this voice is really no difference, but other voices sound on different frequncys and there difference is bigger

Yes, it may only be a 5% difference. That 5% difference is on the voice - the most important element of a song that every human ear is trained to notice first, it also lasts the duration of most songs. 5% of every recording you do, for every listener to hear. That 5% is no joke.

I got both and the only really clear thing I got out after this, is that, SURELY, the price differnce between them both - not knowing yet which one is each - surely is pointless and not worthing a penny LOL Yet, I would risk to say B its Neumann, please somebody clarify this once and for all LOL

Excelente voz,al panear se aproxima demasiado el piano a la voz,un poco de compresión extra vendría bien buen trabajo.

With the original files and listening with studio monitor headphones there is a very clear difference.. The best sound by far is the u87.. More dynamics, much smoother vocals with less artifacts. The Rode nt1 sounds brighter but slightly artificial VS the U87. In a busier pop mix with the vocal further back the nt1-a would stand out though, but nothing EQ can't do for the u87. On regular headphones or basic speakers the difference is pretty minimal and harder to notice. All in all the sound quality the Rode NT1a for the price is very hard to beat.

I'm blown away by her singing ! Incredible... she sounded amazing on both. She has so much dynamics, color modulation etc... on her voice it's hard to choose a favorite. ON my singers clearly the U87 would win most shootouts. As others have said, she could sing into a potatoe chip with two wires connected to it and a decent pringles amp and she'd get amazing results but probably snap the chip before finishing the song.

I can clearly tell even through a phone speaker that B sounds warmer and rounder compared to A. A is harsh/crisp and sounds bit edgier compated to B.

I didn't hear much difference between the two mics, but her beautiful voice will make the cheapest mic sound fantastic.

Devastating....I do need to tweak the NT1a a dite in my booth, but wow, point made!
